Is Stoke Newington School ready for the 2012 Olympics?

In just 3 years the Olympic games will be coming to East London, but will local schools, in particular Stoke Newington School, be ready for this once-in-a-lifetime event?

Steve Herbert, who is in charge of the Olympics at the Learning Trust, said that the school had been involved in several ways, including sending ambassadors to the Paralympics. Annie Gammon, Head Teacher of the school, said that she was excited about the games coming, and PE teacher Gary Wombeek talked about new sports that the school is introducing.

We're currently putting on handball lessons, which is a sport thatŐs going to be in the Olympics, in our alternative curriculum week

Students are also excited about the games coming, saying that the Olympics will definitely help them to do more exercise. All in all, it looks like the school will be ready for the games by 2012.
