How to promote cycling

Although many people cycle in Hackney, it is very dangerous and there could be many more people cycling if it was safer.

Could cycle lanes encourage more people to cycle and do their bit for the environment?

We interviewed a number of cyclists to see what they thought, and to find out whether they had any other ideas about how to promote 'cycling for the climate'.

I used to cycle two years ago every day to get to work. We should definitely have cycle lanes because it's too dangerous.

The expansion of cycling and walking will help reduce our impact on climate change and reduce traffic congestion. Around 20 per cent of the carbon emissions savings we've calculated we can make from transport by 2050 will come from changing the way we travel.
