Will it be hotter for all | ||||||||||||||||

As the effects of Global Warming are becoming ever more visible, we ask the question: 'Will it be hotter for all?' |
There is ever increasing evidence that Britain's climate is changing. In the past few years we have experienced record breaking summers in the UK. |
We asked members of the public and almost all thought the temperature will rise. They based there opinions on the recent trends in weather:'it has been surprisingly warm for mid winter' said one member of the public we interviewed. |

The words 'Global Warming' are perhaps the biggest problem: People think that all places will get hotter, but it's more complicated than that. |

In some places it is likely to get hotter but in other places the opposite may happen. In many places the weather will become more unpredictable and we will have more extreme weather conditions. |

But why will this happen? One of the biggest issues for Britain is the North Atlantic Drift. This has a big effect on our climate. ![]() Dr. Katharine Giles |
Because of the melting ice from the Artic, this current system, this circulation system could be either slowed or stopped which would mean that this warm air and warm water wouldn't be dragged up towards the UK so that could make our climate colder.

The current from the Atlantic Ocean, which is called the Atlantic drift, keeps our climate at a steady and inhabitable temperature. |
Scientists believe that the Atlantic drift has weakened by 30 per cent in the past 12 years, meaning that the warm water from the north is not flowing down towards Britain. |
As global warming is melting the ice caps, the flow of the gulf stream will change direction and so Britain may become colder rather than warmer. |
In this point of time it's very difficult to say what will happen and it's impossible to say when. But Britain will be affected in one way or another. |
