Does the increase in the number of immigrants mean a major problem with housing? Many immigrants come into Hackney without places to stay. |

One immigrant described how she came to the country around 6 years ago and is still waiting for a permanent home. Although this is not the only experience of housing in Hackney, more and more immigrants have been coming into the U.K and housing has become a major problem. |

We spoke to Ali Aksoy who is the chairman of the Hackney Refugee Council and he told us that the amount of time that immigrants wait for a house varies but it can take a very long time. |

While they are waiting there have been cases where more than two families share one room before getting housed. He also told us that immigrants often have to share with friends before moving into their own house. |

We also spoke to Meg Hillier, the MP for South Hackney and Shoreditch. We asked her what she would do about the fact that more and more immigrants are coming into Hackney with no houses to stay in. |
