Congestion on Hackney's very Narrow Way | ||||||||||||||||

In Hackney there has been a increasing problem occuring on the Narrow Way. it is a one way street where only buses have access to. There has been major congestion and blockage along the street. Many have been injured and it is a incredibly dangerous area of Hackney. |

We spoke to shop owners along the street. Their general opinion was that they did not want the bus routes diverted intially because they were concerned that this would effect the amount of customers that would normally shop on the Narrow Way, but they were in favour of fewer buses using this route. |

Transport for London are working with the local council, local bus operators and stakeholders to ensure traffic continues to flow. We are working on a number of schemes to ensure this, inlcuding the time taken by drivers to swap betweeen shifts.

We also visited the Arriva bus garage and spoke to some bus drivers. They understood the fact that there was a problem with the street and wanted to divert some of the routes which would help the speed at which the buses moved in and out of the bus depot. |

The general opinon is that the buses should not be completely stopped but there needs to be a decrease in the amount of buses on the Narrow Way. |
