Teachers have said that primary school children should not do homework as it causes them stress. We ask a group of children from Hackney what they think.

First we asked what sort of homework do they do. They said reading and spelling. Then we asked if they like homework and did it help their learning.

Homework enthusiasts
Do you like it [homework]?

Yes I do because you can do it individually. If we bring it in on time we get stickers on our chart and if we get all of our stickers there, then we can get a prize.
Student - Hackney Primary School

We asked them: 'Did it help them to remember what they learned in class?' They said they liked it because if they did their homework and did it well they got prizes.

So we feel children do benefit from doing homework and that it's a good help for the children.
