Being British: Is that how you feel? | ||||||||||||||||
This report is about Britishness and whether immigrants should be forced to learn English in order to become British citizens. People hold different views on this. Some people think immigrants should learn English but should not be forced. Others feel that there is no point in coming to live in a country where you don't know the language. |

We interviewed Diane Abbott, MP, about her views. She was asked about links between immigration, community service, benefits and learning English. Ms Abbott feels that immigrants have made significant contributions to British society and that this should be taken into account when discussing British citizenship. |
