School uniform; "outrageously outdated" or "fabulously fashionable"?

School uniform; "outrageously outdated" or "fabulously fashionable"? Is uniform a good thing or bad thing? We went out onto the streets of Hackney to find out.

During the past two weeks we have been filming a news report on Hackney Free School uniform. We looked at uniform from two points of views, the reasons for uniform and the reasons against school uniform. We went out onto the streets of Hackney and interviewed a variety of people where we found out that they all had the same opinion on school uniform, which was they all thought it was a good idea. Another person we interviewed was our form tutor from our school, she explained about the history of our logo.

We have concluded that most people thought that school uniform was a very good idea and we now all agree with this statement. Where as before we conducted the investigation most of us in the group thought it was a good idea not to have school uniform and wear our own clothes. In this investigation we have found out there are many more reasons for school uniform than against it. The reasons 'for' are;

• Everyone looks the same.
• Gives the school a more professional attitude.
• Makes everyone look smart.
• Gives you an identity and shows were you come from.
• Don't have to worry about clothes in the morning.
• Stops bullying about peoples clothes.
• Less pressure on parents.
• You don't have to wear your own clothes over & over again.
• You don't ruin your own clothes at school.
